In 1999 a new attraction was introduced at our museum. The 7 1/4 inch (or 184 mm) railway travels through the museum picnic grounds in a bushland setting. Our miniature railway was introduced using the petrol locomotive and carriages, pictured below.

After the railway's successful introduction to the Albion Park site, the decision was made to build the larger locomotive, Strathalbyn II. This diesel locomotive is now the main locomotive used on our running days.

We are able to run two trains during busy days using both locomotives and our current fleet of five carriages. The society is now finishing off a steam locomotive for this ride, which should be in operation by the end of 2008. Two extra passenger carriages are also being built, which will operate with Strathalbyn II. The miniature steam locomotive, to be named "Joey", is pictured below undergoing trials.

As a safety requirement, persons wishing to travel on this ride must wear enclosed footwear
